Welcome to DISTRACTD . Our Final one for the year. And what a year it has been.
We have had such great speakers and topics and I have learnt and grown so much this year in regards to my knowledge around ADHD and myself. Ive met so many of you wonderful attendees and really enjoy when you reach out for a catch up . I have had a few cups of tea catch ups and phone calls this year and I intend on having more in the New Year. Thankyou for being part of our TRIBE. It's because of you we are able to make this happen. If no one came to these events there would be no DISTRACTD. As I always say. Imagine if we could get all the family members, teachers, bosses and friends here to get an understanding of what ADHD is? How different our lives would become.
So this is Christmas and what have you done? Another year over and a new one just begun.
I want to say that Christmas is such an exciting and fun time of year and its actually my favourite time of year. I love the summer, the kids being home on holidays, the food , the Christmas Carols and getting a break from work. I also find leading into Christmas is the time of year that my ADHD is in full force. Ive already been weathering the storm of it all and its only just the 7th DECEMBER.
For me it's the events, juggling of schedules, extra tasks and commitments flowing in. The finding the money to do ALL Of the things expected of us and the gift buying. Its the hosting and arranging people and dates and menus of who brings what. And of course the best way to get me to clean and tidy my house is to invite people over so there is the cleaning and tidying to be done.
Ive already navigated the end of the school year with the concerts, teacher gift buying , xmas breakfasts, end of year concerts and events for the school and now its into the holiday activities and juggling work.
I have decided already that I am not going to be too tough on myself and know I am never going to be the cleaning, organised and budget spreadsheet organising queen but I know how hard this time can be and that there will be lost keys along with my temper and mind at times.
I want to continue to be good and eat well, exercise, get enough sleep, not drink too much or spend all of my money but the reality is all of that is about to get tossed out the window and before I know it I'm going to be so frazzled and slide in sideways to the new year AGAIN.
That is why tonight I want to talk strategy , I know we cant fix it entirely but let's see what we can arm ourselves with to combat this.
There are ADHD cards available to purchase tonight in various styles pricing below.
1 for $5
3 for $13
5 for $20
